Intuitive-Seasonal-Sustainable-Local-Ethical
October 19, 2021
My name is Jenny and I am so honoured and blessed and excited to have you here with me at the start of my magical journey in the world of websites~ oh magical realm of newsletters, small business, blogs and connection.
I am an herbalist, a witch, an organic farmer, a reiki energy channeller, a yoga practitioner, an artist, a cat mom, a traveler, an activist, a tarot enthusiast, and an intuitive...among many other things.
My goal in starting a website was multifold.
Of course I would love to be able to offer my herbal products, reiki sessions, classes and workshops, and more to customers near and far.
I've also found myself less and less aligned with social media. It feels filled with misinformation, gimmicky influencer "culture", and an impossible to stay on top of algorithm. Designed to benefit big business, capitalism, white supremacy and colonialism, it is a place I would like to spend less of my time these days.
While I have found an amazing little community of like minded folks during my time on Instagram... it has felt like the perfect time to shift the business side of my adventures to this space more than there :)
I wanted to build this website to stay connected with my fellow magic folks, friends, clients, customers... and anyone interested in what I have to offer and talk about. This will allow me to share longer content with folks... stories, spells, herbal wisdom, and more. All without having to fight the algorithm.
And finally, I am looking to create a unique space where not only can I share my products, my ideas, insights and knowledge, but where I can also uplift other voices, share about grassroots organizations, and lead by example about how we can all do our part in creating a more just, more kind, more inclusive and more healthy world... for humans, animals, and nature alike.
How are you doing? How is your body feeling? However it feels is ok. However you are feeling is ok. We tend to shame ourselves or blame ourselves when we feel less than optimal.
There is a lot of focus on the positive emotions and sensations. We often feel like when we aren't happy, or content, or feeling physically well or strong... that there must be something wrong. But, we are cyclical beings, and life is not linear, there are always ups and downs, transitions and changes. Our aches, and pains, grumpy and antisocial parts of ourselves are just as valid and worthy of love and respect as any other part.
And everything passes, everything changes. Change is the only constant, and it can bring up a lot of resistance, grief and habitual patterns and habits. It is ok to honour all the ways you are feeling. Accept it and gently allow yourself to move forward anyway.
The dark moon time of the year, which we are heading into (exact timing depends who you ask, but I consider it the time between November and end of January) is a time when a lot of the harder feelings can come up for some folks.
It is a time of honouring our darkness. Of honouring our grief. To release old patterns and behaviours that are no longer serving us. It is a time for going inward. Time to make friends with our shadows. A time to slow down. A time to for rebirth.
What has shifted for you this year? What are you still hoping to accomplish in these last couple months of the year? Where can you release? Where can you soften? What can you celebrate? How can you make friends with the dark? With your shadowy parts?
Because it is from the dark that the new emerges. The dark is fertility before visible life emerges. A new seed sprouting out of the soil.
This launch has magically aligned with the Aries new moon during Libra season. It was not originally planned this way, but as my schedule went it seemed more and more meant to happen during this lunation... and how perfect!
To be under an Aries moon, the sign that represents birth, rebirth, spring, the self, confidence and passion. In Libra season, which ushers us into the dark part of our year, and reminds us of balance, community, and the beauty of duality. How much more perfect can it get for this project and to welcome you to it!
During this full moon I will be asking myself "How is my self-care, my work, and my healing connected to community?."
Because this lunation corresponds with the self and the other, the personal and the communal, I will be casting spells and setting intentions to honour social justice activists, of which many MANY are from marginalized communities, and most are not paid for their work.
This would be an opportune time to find a mutual aid or grassroots organization that supports marginalized peoples (Black, brown and indigenous folks, LGBTQ+, incarcerated people, and environmental issues are just a few examples!).
For this season I will be donating $1 from every purchase to the Indian Residential School Survivors Society.
This is a great time to incorporate immune boosting herbs and spices.
Examples of these include: elderberries, elderflowers, ginger, turmeric, garlic.
I also recommend fortifying, nourishing and protective herbs (physically, emotionally, and magically)
Nettles are a fortifying, nourishing and protective herb that I recommend for the transition periods of fall into winter, and winter into spring. Nettles are rich in iron, calcium, magnesium, proteins and other nutrients. They are anti-inflammatory and are an excellent tonic to strengthen the body, mind and spirit.
Black and Red Hawthorns I harvested this fall season
Hawthorne is another protective herb that I recommend as a support during times of grief, heartache, confusion and sadness. An excellent companion to the dark moon times. It is known as a heart herb, it generally improves cardiac function. But it is also an excellent helper for insomnia, stress and protection magic.
Hawthorn Tincture Available Here!
Finally, I'd be remiss not to mention my personal favourite seasonal medicine/magic/deliciousness!!!
Fire Cider is apple cider vinegar and honey infused with delicious and potent immune boosting, cold busting, lung supportive, and generally all around superstar herbs and spices.
Set up an ancestral alter to honour your ancestors both living and dead. These could be ancestors of your family, your ancestral home, artists you admire, your idols, pets... you know who is part of you.
Finally, as we are honouring this Aries moon, Libra sun moment in space and time. How can you honour your self. Your needs, energy, emotions, desires, and struggles. As well as those of the collective?
Do you need to delete social media for a week so you can spend time with your community? Are there contacts in your phone you no longer wish to speak to? Delete them! Do you need to spend an hour napping on the couch on Friday afternoon? Consider your needs, consider your privilege and consider it all in the context of the collective, of the community.
That's all folks... as I finish here I am looking out my window at this gorgeous just about to be full moon. My new baby kitten is curled up on the chair next to me. I am thrilled to launch my store today. I am thrilled for you to be here. There is so much more to come. This is just the beginning. Change is freakin' scary, but it is also exciting and necessary.
*~May you have a howlingly gorgeous full moon ~* **~~** You are magic, you are inherently worthy **~~**
